Burial of a Mary Woodhams age 35 at ME on 6 March 1842. But looking at 1841 she may have been the wife of Coats.
Philip 24 was in the same household as Philip and Eliza, with no sign of a wife, in 1841
In 1851 there is an Eliza 9 daughter living with Philip and Eliza
There's also a burial of Hannah age 18 on 8 May 1842, who may have been the mother of Eliza born Dec quarter 1841. Does your note of the 2 Jan 1842 baptism give her mother's name? If not you may have to invest £7 in her birth cert. There's time after Jun 1841 for Philip to have married Hannah, to have had Eliza in the dec quarter 1841, and for Hannah to have died in May 1842. The closest Hannah in ME in 1841 is Hannah Cox age 19. Pure unadulterated speculation!
But like you I can't find a first marriage of Philip

How about Bedford 6 43 Sept 1841 Hannah Bond/Boud and Philip Woodams
And there is a Hannah Bond 15 in ME in 1841
Not just idle speculation! (Actually it was, but it seems to have worked out E&OE)
David
Later: The marriage is on the IGI - extracted - at Carlton on 12 July 1841 Philip WOODOMS/Hannah BOND

Hi there,
I'd just like to say thanks for all the information you have on Philip Woodham. You've done a brilliant job and helped me fill in some holes. My family line descends from Charles Woodham, youngest son to Philip and Elizabeth.
Have a good christmas everyone Linda

Hello, thanks for that Cathy, I'm sure Linda #1 will be in touch.
There is also info on the BLARS site of other Woodham family members of Milton Ernest including Coates.
Also in David Newman's book 'The Importance of Milton Ernest' there is an extract from letters of John Turner of M/E to his brother in America in 1834 where he describing the households of the village ".... we will find Philip Woodham and his wife with their son Cotes & his little brats in their old home ..." .
Which ties in with what is recorded on the 1841 census, Philip & his wife Eliza, plus Coates & his wife Mary, plus their children (I mean brats) Ann, George, Andrew & Isaac.
cheers John
