Ricky there just the business and I am most grateful to you. I hopefully would imagine that they were a little more upmarket in their day! In 1916 it would have looked quite respectful, looks as if it has not had a lot done to it since then. A dustbin would tidy up the area no end!

Thanks again, much obliged and they do not look so bad in black and white! Looking forward to the school ones.

Regards

Hi Graham
Here are a couple of the street, by the way it was dustbin day, as the lorry was just down the street Smiley

The street does not look so bad as that individual house, again many thanks.

Hi Graham
this is the only school I could find around the area, so not 100% sure its the one you want. Its right beside the church, and I asked a few people around there if they new of another old school, and thats the one they pointed out to me. There is a more modern one, but thats only about 20 years old, plus some of the area has been modernized.

Sorry to say, this is the wrong school as this one was the Catholic School, built in 1894.  South Lynn Infant School was actually on South Everard Street.  I am not in Lynn and I don't know if it is still there, but I will make enquiries.

Hi teddybear
If you looked at my posting I said I wasn't 100% sure if this is the one.
I asked some of the locals in the street and this is the one they pointed out to me. I didnt see no school on South Everard Street when I was down it the other day, there is some new flats built at the bottom of South Everard Street, so it could have been there. Only other school in the area is the new one that I mentioned.

Sorry Ricky

I wasn't knocking your effort at all, just confirming your suspicions.

Hope I didn't offend you with my post.

Hi Teddy

Not offended, just that I went down South Everard Street to get the photo of the house, as the house was at the bottom end of the street,  and I didnt see a school on it anywhere. I did notice that at the bottom end of the street was some new flats, so it could have been there. Did notice a pub on the corner at the top end. Wink I asked several people on the street if they new about an old school, and the photo's I took were what was pointed out to me. Plus there has been a lot of modern building built in the area, so it could well have gone. If I get chance next time I is in Lynn will try the library as its only just down the road

regards

Update...............................

Friars Place is on the site as far as I have been able to ascertain. The back way into the school was in Friar Street under an arch.

I will see what else I can dig out over the weekend.

Hi Ricky

Friar Street is to the West of South Everard Street.  See the 1881 map below,  this shows the school too.

South Everard Street school was directly opposite where North Everard Street joins South Everard Street..
