The light is on but there's no-one at home!
Harold Dene House, Stanstead

Has anyone heard of this place - according to my mother it was a Childrens Home in the 1920's, possibly a Barnardo's home.

I've Googled it and searched the web under every title I can think of but not found anything.  Next step is to write to Barnardos and see if it was one of theirs, in the meantime if anyone can come up with anything I'd be grateful

Hi,

Had a quick look at the Barnado's site, I can't see any reference to that particuar home.  The past Essex homes can be found here

Thanks Sue - I'm beginning to think that this is another of Mother's [/i]selective memories[i]  Undecided  Oh well back on the 'to do' list for the New Year.
