Sweetapple's Dyke
« on: Thursday 13 December 07 14:16 GMT (UK) »

Sweetapple's Dyke is an alternative name for Fledborough and derives from the exploits of the Rev William Sweetapple who married 480 couples between 1729 and his death in 1753. Fledborough was known as the Gretna Green of the Midlands back then. My ancestors Benjamin Rollitt and Mary Killingar were amongst those married by the obliging Reverend. Does anyone know about Fledborough at the time or the Reverend?

Thanks,
Simon
