Potter Waterway Street
« on: Sunday 02 December 07 20:00 GMT (UK) »

Hi, does anyone remember Grace & William Potter who lived on Waterway Street?  They were both air raid wardens during WW2 and I believe they had twins who lived for a short time but other than travelling to Nottingham I don't know how to find out about them (if rumour was right).  I have no names, sex or DOB  Huh

Thanks to anyone who can help

Julie

Dear Julie
As far as I know the only way to do this to access the Complete BMD indexes on ancestry.co.uk but it does cost to become a member - or you may find if you visit your local library or family records office you may be able to access ancestry free of charge there.
The complete indexes are for years 1837 to 1983 but they have been scanned page by page in quarter and year order.  You would look for the surname Potter and then first name William and see if you can spot which one may be yours, and do this quarter after quarter.  You would need to guess at a possible time for the twins birth - say between 1940 and 1945 and then look for a child named Potter which matches their mothers maiden name.

Do you know Grace's maiden name or have any rough guess at when she may have married William.. Do you know roughly when & where the children may have been born?
Let me know if you have any ideas on where and when.
