Hello,
In spite of my best endeavours, I have yet to locate Elizabeth MAYNARD (née PURSER) and any of her family in the Ancestry transcriptions of the 1841 and 1851 Bedfordshire Censuses.
I would be grateful for anyone with access to the Kempston Censuses for 1841/1851 to look for her and her family, as I believe there is a high probability that she was living in Kempston.
I have found her in the 1861 Kempston census where she was living at Bell End as a widow with her son-in-law Isaac Chapman and her daughter Esther, who was born in c1826 Kempston, and an unmarried daughter Mary born c 1842 Kempston. The 1871 Kempston Census essentially confirms the same POBs and DOBs. Elizabeth was born in Wootton 1799 and had married John Maynard there in 1821.
Kind regards, Michael.

Hi Jane,
Many thanks for spotting Elizabeth in the 1841 census. Clearly I hadn’t thought laterally enough in my searches! Recently I found a Sophia transcribed as Lofyah and a Robert as Nobel - so this transcription comes as no surprise.
The 1851 information backs up the family details, but still no Elizabeth, John or Mary? At least Bell End, Kempston has figured throughout so chances must be high of them still being in the area in 1851.
Thanks again. Kind regards, Michael.
