Henry HARRY bC1844 St Austell
« on: Thursday 13 December 07 20:55 GMT (UK) »

Henry Harry bC1844 St Austell was aged 7 living with his mother and siblings at Bucklers St Austell in 1851.He was aged 7.
In 1861 he was living with his widowed mother Jane at Brays Place. He was then 16and a copper miner.
At another house in Brays Place, there was Kitty Harry,widowed,42,a char women born St Mewan.I don't think she is from same family.
It is possible Henry may have followed his brother John Hammer Harry to Australia, but I have no evidence of this.
Can you help please?

Thank you Hepburn.Much appreciated.
I have not found any evidence of him in Australia. His brother raised a large family in El Dorado Victoria, but no sign of Henry.I think it reasonable that he might have been with his brother.

Good morning Deb
I have found that there was a Henry Harry who turns up in 1881 (from CD) living at No.1 Seven Stars East Hill St Austell, living with wife Elizabeth and three children also a srvant Jane Hancock. There is a marriage Dec Quarter 1874 Vol 5c p180.Seems Elizabeth is a Hancock. They are all born St Austell and he was 34 and an Innkeeper.

I also found the same family, same location in 1891 and extra children. There is also a servant Laura Trudgian from Mevagissey.Henry was aged 45 and a licensed Victualler.FreeBMD has Henry March Quarter 1845.
I think the Census ages roughly equate to his birth 1845.

I am reasonably confident that Henry the innkeeper is Nicholas's son.
This new family was previously unknown to me.
Looking back at the family of 8,John Hammer came to Australia,Henry became an innkeeper. All the others died 20 or under.

Any thoughts as to how I can prove I have the correct Henry?

Cheers

regarding whether you have the correct Henry who married Elizabeth Hancock.... although I have not yet looked at the census ...is either to find him in prior census or to order marriage cert , where his dad's name and occupation would be revealed ...

I am off to look at census
