1901 census « on: Saturday 19 April 08 22:47 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have access to the 1901 census for the Derbyshire area. I am trying to find a ELIZA LANGFORD who married in 1893. The details on the gro are June quarter 1893 6b 638 Burton. On the freebmd site it shows other people and it may be she married someone called Hurley or Cross. My Eliza Langford was born in Shrewsbury around 1833. Her husband died in 1892 and I cannot find a death for her, checking from 1881 to 1925 under her name. When I found the marriage, it has made me think she may have re-married. The 1881 census shows her living with her children and her husband REUBEN was lodging elsewhere. He was born in Broseley, Shropshire. Did they not get on ? Any help or suggestions etc gratefully accepted.

Cannot find an Eliza married to either a Samuel Cross or Joseph Hurley on 1901 Census. However, I did note the death of an Eliza Hurley b.1833 who died 1911 Burton upon Trent - could not find an Eliza Hurley born around this time on 1901 either so perhaps she and Joseph 'evaded' the enumerator.
Best I can do I'm afraid.

Hello Annette,
Thank you for your help. Probably the best thing would be to chance it and send for the marriage certificate. As I cannot find a death under the name of Eliza Langford, I think she may have re married.

Hi. I have found Joseph Hurley in the 1891 census and Eliza Langford is a servant. He is showing as a widow. Her age is to be questioned as he was younger than her but the place of birth matches and the age at death. I have sent for the marriage certificate just to confirm this. I wouldn't have got this far so thank you for finding the death.
