I'm looking for Benjamin Taylor, born Guisborough 1808, on the 1851 census. In 1841 he was a cabinet maker in Guisborough with 1st wife Eliza. In 1861 he was an architect in Leeds with 2nd wife Ann. His wife Ann Taylor (nee Watson) is in Guisborough in 1851, but he isn't, and I can't spot him in North or West Yorkshire
Can anyone else find him?

Well, Tadcaster is not that far from Leeds, where he and his family end up in 1861 and beyond so as long shots go I think its pretty good. Maybe Benjamin had an accent that made Guisborough sound like Grimston! And I guess cabinet maker-builder-architect over 20 years would be feasible?
Its a very faded image on ancestry ... does it really say for head of household: "Isabella Jennings, age 68, occupation plasterer"? So much for the male-dominated building trade! Attagirl, Isabella
I'll go with this one for now; maybe see if the Jenkings/Jennings are related. Thanks very much Emma,
Barbara

They're all together in 1841, Isabella 55, Mary 30, William and George both 15. Also John age 25 - would imagine her son also but you never know, could be a husband All ages rounded to nearest 5 years I presume, and no marital status for any of them- but all plasterers.
Now I'm going to have to research women in the building trade in 1840s Yorkshire!
Thanks again
