Hi jennyrob,
Found a couple of FreeBMD who might be him:
George Westacott Sep 1856 Barnstaple 5b 4[06]9
or
George H Westacott Sep 1858 Tiverton 5b 383
FreeBMD data gets update regularly so it is worth rechecking.

Hi jennyrob,
It was Browniepants (Yvonne) who found the family in Wales; I don't have access to the census apart from 1881.
Chittlehampton is not too far from Barnstaple but I've never heard of Newton Eyres; sorry.

I have found a George Westacott married to Mary which is who my George was married to She was also born in Thorverton around the right date On the free BDM she is Mary Langabeer They married in 1874 in the St Thomas area there is also a Mary Jane Bowden marrying a George Westacott in 1871in same area How do you know which one is right. It is more than certain Mary Langabeer is the corect one but is St Thomas the right area I want to be almost certain before sending for wedding cert

Hi jennyrob,
I think its more than likely to be the 1874 marriage as George would not have been old enough in 1871 if i remember rightly he was born 1857 ish so he would have only been about 14 in 1871.
St Thomas is ( i think) Around Exeter Area so it is possible

Hi again,
Also on the 1871 census RG10/2166/36/19
Mary Leargabear (Mistranscribed) 19 Un Servant Born Thorverton Devon
Living in Tiverton.
1871 census RG10/2052/30/23
Mary Jane Bowden 19 Un Servant Born Crediton Devon
Living St Thomas Heavitree
So to tie in with the george & mary on 1881 census RG11/2145/86/8
It is more likely to be Mary Langabeer than Bowden in my opinion.
