I am looking for information on Robert McCredie b: 1769 and Janet McCredie (no relation)b:1772, who married in 1793.They had ten or eleven children .

From the IGI -- www.familysearch.org there are the 8 below (1 transcribed twice) - obviously possibly more - I take it you have these. If not, go to the site - use the search tab and enter the parents names. What specific information are you looking for - I take it their parents?

Looking for the parents,
Have searched the IGI births/christening - 10 years either side of 1769 in both Scotland and Ireland - no entries.
For Janet - searched 5 years either side of 1772 and came up with 4.
1.ch. 02 Dec Colmonell, Ayr parents James McCredie and Martha McBride
2. ch. 10 Jul 1772 Inch, Wigton parents - John McCredie
3. ch. Aug 1775 Ballantrae, Ayr, parents Andrew McCredie and Jean McIlroy
4. ch. 15 Dec 1775 Inch, Wigtown, parents - John McCredie
A strong possibility that 2 and 4 is the same parents - a female child dying and a sister then given the same name.

Looking on the IGI for marriages - 'all countries', 5 years either side of 1795 comes up with 3 Janet McRedies getting married in Ayr. None to a Robert McCredie - and none in 1793. There is a Janet marrying a Robert Crawford in 1994.
Looked on Scotlands people (www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk). from 1790-1800 - no marriages on the OPR for Robert McCredie or McCreedie. 2 within that time frame for a Janet McCredie - none in 1793.

Thanks for all the information. I am very new to this site and a bit unsure of myself. I do have the children of Robert and Janet, but am looking for anything on Robert's parents.
Father could be William
Mother Mary Cumming
Married in Ballantrae ?1760
They had ? four children
Jean born 29.1.1761
John born 23.7.1763
Robert (my great-great grandfather) born 3.3.1769
William born 29.5.1773

Hi Steve,
Yes, these are my relatives. Have found this site but I have been told that Robert's father and mother are not Thomas McCredie and Jean Earle, but are William McCredie and Mary Cumming. I don't have anymore information other than an marriage date of 20 March 1760 in Ballantrae.

Forgot to put in the fact William and Mary apparently had four children:
Jean b: 1761
John b: 1763
Robert b: 1769 (my ggg grandfather)
William b: 1773

Rabina McCreadie married George Boyd, had son George Boyd, married Helen Pearson, had daughter Robina Boyd, married (1 of 4) William Livingston, had daughter Agnes Livingston, who married Matthew Cummiskey, who had son James Cummiskey, who married Agnes McDivitt, who had daughter Agnes Cummiskey (My Gran) who married James Casey, and had son James Casey (My dad), who married Barbara Gilliland and had me Susan Casey. I have 3 children and 3 grandchildren.
