Sniffing out the ancestors
Lookup Jane/Jean Dempster 1871

Jane Dempster born abt 1807, Carsphairn, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland

Last found in 1861 living with her son James Higgins and her Father Thomas Dempster at Black Bull Inn 212 High Street, Ayr, Ayrshire and her listed occupation is listed as Wife.

Whoever transcribed the 1861 Census got a few things wrong as she was listed as

Jean Dempski born Carsphairn, Kirkcudbright and listed as Daughter and her occupation listed as wife and was living at Black Bull Jan 212 High Street, Ayr.

Her Father Thomas Dempster died in 1867 and I have been unable to find Jane or her son James Higgens on the 1871 Census onwards.

Jane married John Higgens in 1842 at Monkton, Ayrshire but I have no record of him as she was living with her father Thomas Dempster on the 1851 and 1861 Census and she was using the surname Dempster.

I can't find them anywhere in 1871.
There's no listing of a death for a Jane/Jean Dempster/Higgins on SP
