Orrvale is not missing from Balerno but only 20 yards of the original remain.
It was demolished and part refurbished in 1972 to make way for new housing and a carpark in the centre of the village.  If you want a photo pm me.
The original Smith's Buildings were at the top of the village above Orrvale.

You do need to have made a minimum of 2 (or 3, conflicting info on this on the boards) to use the PM system. Try it now that you have made 2 and see how you go  Smiley

thank you for the photos
my wife says she remembers there being a chip shop where the tandoori house now is
she lived at the far end of of the street so unfortunately the house she lived in is no longer there
