Can anyone confirm for me that the parents of Joseph Grant Cary born abt 1840 in Devon are Richard Cary and Mary Grant, as i cant find any details about Richard at all as im desperately trying to find out who his parents and siblings were.
I have Richard listed as born abt 1810 in Blackawton Devon and his wife Mary born 1806 Broadhemptston, They were married 1830 Broadhempton, Richards wife died in Jun 1892 Newton abbott and if im correct Richard died Jun 1876 also Newton Abbott area.
Other info that may help:
Joseph Grant Cary 1840 married Elizabeth Ann Gibbings 1859 June qtr Newton Abbot vol 5b page 265

A copy of his birth certificate will confirm:
Joseph Grant Cary Jun 1839 Newton Abbot 10 163
Certificates can be ordered online at www.gro.gov.uk and cost £7
As he was born in 1839 he should be on 1841 census probably with his parents; sadly I don't have access.

Hi Thank you for the marriage date ive traced back mary grants side of the family ive gone back a couple more generations with them but its richards parents im really searching for as thats the family name and the most important one at the moment out of the many surnames in the family tree to date (52) they are proving to be difficult

Devon FHS have produced indexes for Blackawton parish registers Baptisms 1813-1839, Marriages 1754-1837, Burials 1813-1837

Richard Cary consistently gives his birthplace as Blackawton on the 1851 through to the 1871 censuses - circa 1810.
