Hello All,
This is my first posting on this sight so hope it will be fruitful...here goes.
Trying to trace my fathers ancestors sadly my dad died last year at the grand age of 94..and i now have the urge to trace family back as far as i can.
His father was Archibald Mackay and his mother was Ann Mackay nee Macdonald
His grandfather was Alexander Mackay who was married to Janet laing of knocktorrin. i believe gg grand father and mother were Donald and Rachel Mackay nee matheson ??
I still have a lot of family in north uist which i haven't asked as yet..thought i would try this root first.

In this posting you have your grandmother being Ann Nicholson...in another posting you have her as McDonald...
I was wondering if you could clear that up and can you tell us if you have the certificates to prove your findings...if you are quite sure of your facts .....are you looking for census...?
and do you know haw to use familysearch?
