There are very few HONEYCOTTS around on the 1841 census.  The few that I've found are in New Sarum, WIltshire.

There is a Charles HONEYCUTT aged 70 who is a shoemaker living in New Street.  Other members of the household are
Mary 30, James 30, Samuel 14 - all born in county.

I haven't found Henry yet.  Sad

Perhaps father was Henry, but he was not a Honeycutt ??

The 1851 Post Office Directory for Southampton lists Samuel HONEYCUT, boot and shoemaker, living at Upper Canal Walk, Southampton.

No Henry.

Going by the baptism, which seems very possible (not many named Honeycutt or varient) that mother was Mary, she was unmarried in 1841, 1851, so it is likely he was illigit and Henry was put on marriage cert to save face, he may never have existed.  Also Samuel /Marys' family are shoemakers...

Wonder if Charles left a will, could give some useful info...not another Samuel Honeycutt in 1841, so prob right family.

Possible Deaths Sep 1854  (for informant info another avenue ??)

Honaycutt  Charles     Salisbury  5a 117
Honeycott  Mary     Salisbury  5a 119

1861 - RG9; Piece: 1316; Folio: 13; Page: 21
James Honeycutt is in Crane street workhouse age 50, lab, b Sailsbury, Wilts

Possible Death Sep 1864

Honeycott  James     Salisbury  5a 123

Just my thoughts...

Hi Cas, Thanks once again, yes its definately right family, have had most details fo a while it was just the mystery of Henry .  esp ecially as a henry does turn up in Southampton for a marriage and a death but no sign of him on any other records, he could be a travelling shoemaker ??
