Hi I am researching the Oakden family. my gr gr grandfather John Wood married a Fanny Oakden in Manchester 1864. Here parents were Anthony Oakden and Elizabeth Oakden. It it the children I am interested in. Thomas Oakden, William Oakden, Fanny Oakden, Sarah Oakden, Margaret Oakden, I wanting to know who they married and if they had any children. Also there is another Elizabeth Oakden as well, don't quite know where she fits in. Also there was a granddaughter that lived with them as well, Fanny Oakden. They were all born in Thorpe Derbyshire.

Thats quite a lot of work !
Have you tried looking for marriages of Elizabeths and Anthony's children using the FreeBMD and/or Ancestry resources ?
Then looking for / requesting Census lookups for the married couple in the next census ?

The district of interest looks to be Ashbourne - father Anthony is probably the death there in Sep qtr 1860. You may well be able to find some of them in this district.
I assume you have the 1851 Census from your query. In 1841 there is an older daughter Elizabeth (I guess you have 1841 as well). She is probably the daughter of a previous marriage for Anthony as he is quite some years older than his wife. If you have census data, it is a good idea to advise the details - ages etc. This will help people who are attempting to help you. Granddaughter Fanny may be the child of this Elizabeth or she could be the daughter of another child of Anthony who was not living at home in 1841. You may find some earlier children on the IGI.
Doing detailed lookups on FreeBDM Ancestry and the IGI is something you can try for yourself & as Newfy says then ask for further assistance by detailing what you have already found.

Hi Marian,
I don't know if you have been able to progress any further with your family but I do have some information on this family.
Anthony Oakden 1781- 1866 married Elizabeth Blore 1807-1880 they married 28 Mar 1825 Thorpe, Derbyshire
Elizabeth remarried after Anthony died to Benjamin Wilkinson they married 24 May 1874.
Anthony possibly married Mary Hambleton 2 Jun 1807 in Mayfield Staffs they had the following children (that I've found on IGI
MARY b. 17 Jun 1808 chr 26 Jun 1808 Bradbourne
HANNAH b. 4 Aug 1811 chr 11 Aug 1811 Bradbourne
EDITH chr 17 Jul 1814 Bradbourne
ELIZABETH chr 17 Jul 1817 Bradbourne
JOHN chr 4 Apr 1820 Bradbourne
ANTHONY chr 16 Feb 1823 Thorpe (he must have died as infant as Anthony and Elizabeth had another Anthony 10 years later)
The Thorpe parish registers could hold more clues and burials maybe of his 1st wife and of his children but that would mean a visit to Matlock in Derbyshire and I unfortunately can't do that for you as I don't even live in England.
Anyway I hope this is of use to you and can supply further info if you need it.
Merry Christmas
All the best Angela
