i am not sure that you will be able to help me, as i do not have much info to go on.

i have Philip Beer b. Torrington / Bideford 1812 s/o John Beer, he married Eliza Parkhouse b. 1812 Monkleigh d/o Richard Parkhouse and Mary (Sing, we think)
this is as far back as i have got on that side of the family. i wonder if you could help me get back further or find siblings for Philip and Eliza, or even just confirm Elizas mother is Mary Sing
i have their marriage cert. 31.03.1838 Monkleigh

I realise that Beer is a very common name in Devon,  and John common overall so perhaps there is not enough info. to go on here. I am not sure about the overall popularity of Parkhouse however.

don't worry if you can't find anything, thanks for offering

Toni

Thank you for the offer,

Looking for the birth of Harriet Gibbon(s) b Plymouth, c 1858 on census.  Parents Richard and Harriet (nee Lloyd) they married July 1857 in Kent.  Second child was born 1 Basket Street, Plymouth, Apr 1860 so would be in between these dates.

Would like to confirm birthdate, address and fathers' occ. and mother's maiden name,  if possible

Many thanks for your time...appreciated

Hi Raa

Could you see if you could look up a couple of Tavistock marriages for me?

1.  William Spurrell married Sophia Atwill Head in Whitchurch 7 Feb 1843 (Mar Q 1843 Tavistock  vol 9 493) - fathers names if possible?  I have William's parents as Thomas Spurrell, farmer and Sarah Willcocks.  However another Spurrell connection has his parents as John Spurrell, shoemaker and Patience Westington (my 4G grandparents).

2.  William Gent married Mary Emma Spurrell Sept Q 1859 Tavistock  5b 633.  Names of fathers and witnesses if possible?  I believe William may be the son of John Gent and Philippa Spurrell and Mary Emma is his first or second cousin.

Tks, Jane

Hello again raa

I understand that the 2 Tavistock marriages will be difficult to locate without knowing the actual church.  If you have time would you be able to hunt for the marriage of John Gent & Phillipa Spurrell c1835 instead ?

John was born in Pennycross 1817, Philippa was born Walkhampton 1813.  According to the IGI their first child Louisa was born in christened 4 Oct 1835 in Tavistock Wesleyan church.  I'm a little suspicious of this as John would've been only 18 yo and Philippa 22 Huh.  Next child William b Sept Q 1839 Plympton St Mary so from other records would be either Bickleigh or Pennycross.  And in 1841 they were living in Bickleigh (no sign of Louisa) Not many clues I know.

Thanks, Jane
