Davison
« on: Sunday 02 January 05 18:25 GMT (UK) »

Can anyone help with trying to find a Jessie Davison born in 1889, possibly in Scotland. Got married between 1906 & 1911 to a John Slater from near Bury in Lancashire. Died as Jessie Slater in December 1916, from TB.

All avenues draw a blank. V frustrated. Any pointers/suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Hi,

Do you think she was christened Jessie or is that an alternative to her real name.

All my Davisons originate in Northumberland and Durham, but no Jessie's.

Groucho,

Have you searched on ScotlandsPeople for Jessie's birth?  It's a paying site with minimum fee being 6 pounds.

Remember that in Scotland girls named Janet were often known as Jessie so it's worth searching under both names.  Also, wildcards can be used so it's probably worth searching under DAVI*SON in case it was recorded thus.

Have you tried the 1901 census - England and (on ScotlandsPeople) Scotland?
