Me and my sister were born in the Gables Nursing Home. I remember seeing it in the old family movies. I have been told it's not there any more. Does any one have a photograph of it please ?
I remember a long line of trees.......... ??

Gosh that was spooky....looked where you said, up came this photo that i had only seen in my minds eye when I was 4 years old and i recognised it straight away

Hi,
Try Thorpe road, Peterborough on Google Earth. It has an astonishing level of detail, you can zoom right down, alter the perspective and take a virtual stroll down Thorpe Road  Of course I don't know what I'm looking for but you will. Lots of swimming pools in the gardens  Google Earth images vary considerably but I've noticed that areas near military bases have a much better resolution. Peterborough has so may military bases nearby its not suprising to have that level of detail.

Now that I know what I'm looking for I can clearly see an 'institution' with formal grounds and possibly allotment type gardens.

Hi everyone,
If "The Gables" is still there I will visit...... Mom told me it wasn't.
Malcolm, I wasn't the last....my sister was born there, ( 1965 ) I still have this vision of her being held up, to show me,(aged 4 ) through glass . i still have family in Peterborough...off I go.

funny that you say it's a psychiatric unit.........talking to my work mates !!! today, they said the picture looked a bit that way inclined...........explaines a lot to them about me ....Ha ha 
What was it before a maternity hospital ? Was it anything, ? A grand house ? Was I born in a Grand House ?
