Rockcliffe? Birth: Jane HINSE

Hi all,

I have a marriage for a John Brown and Jane Hinse in Rockcliffe, Cumberland on 16 Jan 1788.
I also know of 5 children all born in Rockcliffe between 1788 and 1806.

I have been trying to find any references to the birth of a Jane HINSE but have not been able to find any in Rockcliffe, around Carlisle or even in the whole of Cumberland.

I'm not sure what to do now. 'Hinse' does seem like a strange surname (I may be wrong) which leads me to think that it may be a mistranscription.

Any records, thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.

Perhaps Jane HIND 2 Nov 1767 (dau of Isaac, no mother named)

(I see John and Jane had a son called Isaac)

Isaac HIND married Margaret HEWIT 30 Jan 1755 Rockcliffe

(also a daughter Margaret for John and Jane I see)

Rockcliffe is IGI batches  C058721 (1780-) and C058722 (-1779)

I just searched the latter batch for a Jane bap around 1760-70 (and you know the rest) Wink
