Hello Jannorth,

Well you are indeed lucky to be in such surroundings at this time of the year, we in Scotland, are enduring a rather cold period.

Its very much essential to get the proper marriage certificate for John Wood, and Catherine Rowe Dougal, ( by the way the spelling is Dougall, on the marriage index. ) the marriage should prove who his parents are.

If you obtain this certificate, and his parents are James Wood, and Mary Reid, then i can give you for certain James Wood's, parents, plus his siblings and birth dates.

Regards,
Jonn.

I have down loaded a copy of the Marriage cert and you were correct.  parents of John wood were James wood and Marion Inglis which explains the inglis connection in my Grandmothers name!  Sorry to have taken up so much of your time.  The original facts were given to me as known facts.

Hi Jonn,

Age was 35 and occupation was joiner.  His father (deceased) was also listed as joiner.

Jonn,

Thats great.  I am sure this is the line that I need to follow.  I have also been in contact with a guy living in Muirkirk who has also given me some information relating to my grandmother who was born there.

Have a great Christmas and New Year.  The ship calls in to Easter Island tomorrow morning for a short stop before heading on to Peru!

Regards

Hi John and Joe,
Hope you don,t mind me butting in but i just came across your messages concerning Robert Wood and Charlotte Douglas. Are you related to them. I am related to them through their daughter, Marion Wood born 18/6/1825. She married a James Hendrie 1851. Which is the line i am following.

Hi Jan,
I am a bit puzzled concerning the James Wood born 1807  being the son of Robert wood & Charlotte Douglas. I have Robert Wood born about 1799 and Charlotte Douglas born 19/5/1805. They Married in 1823. Do you have the death certificate of James with his parents names on or do you have any idea when he died. If James was born about 1807 it can,t be Roberts son. Lets hope we can sort it out.

Scully,

You were right, on checking some facts I was able to find the correct parents for James.  Alexander Wood and Margaret Brown married in 1805, a much more likely setup!  If you can contact John from earlier in the thread I believe he may be of help to you.  If I find a conection between Alexander and Robert I will let you know.  Sorry for the false hope!
