Hi A look up request please for a Sidney Henry Pow who was actually born Henry Augustus Pow in Bath. Cannot find him in 1901 in Bath and by 1903 he was married in Bristol Bedminster. So think he might be in Bristol. Any help would be great. He used the name of Sidney henryand Henry Sidney sometimes on the same form, but never with Augustus until about 1930's.

Hi nad1611
Welcome to RootsChat!
Do you have details of the marriage - this should give father's name and occupation and his age, which would make it easier to identify him on censuses.
kind regards, Arranroots

Hi Thanks for your responses. Henry Augustus Pow 1882 was always known as Sidney. He was born in Bath but married in Bristol in 1903. His father was William Pow 1858. Sidney had a brother Charles and the family were from the Walcot area in Bath. Thanks for any help

Closest I could find on 1891 census, with a father William and a brother Charles in Walcot, Bath area, do you have father's occupation off Sidney's marriage cert? -

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately the family you have found Catone is not the Sidney I am after, but coincidentally these Pows are related back to the same William Pow of 1787. I have tried putting Sidney under his real name Henry Augustus and the name he later uses in all other documents, henry Sidney Pow or Sidney Henry Pow. I'll keep this open for now.

Haven't a clue why I didn't see this 1891 census before, unless ancestry have been adding pages! How about this family?? Father William (b.c1858), brother Charlie, Sidney, Bath area, all present and correct!

Henry Augustus/Sidney made it onto the 1881 census too (looks like father is going by middle name of Edward though) -

Thanks Catone. I hadn't been able to find the family in 1881,it's good to see Sidney written as Henry. The family seem to have had a habit of going by second names. Their mother's name was Mary but she was known as Jane. iN 1901 William is in the workhouse, but I can't find Mary Jane or Charles or Sidney/Henry. The reason i want to find Sidney/Henry iin 1901 is because he ends up in Bristol by 1903 and I wondered what brought him here and when. Thanks for everything so far. I'll keep this open for a bit longer.

Just to wrap this up. I still haven't found Sidney in 1901. Also Catone, the census you found was definetly the right family but actually and very confusingly the Henry 1 month old is not my Henry but one of the three children born to William and Mary Jane who died. Sidney or Henry Augustus was not born yet, being born in 1882.
Have posted a link look up in Somerset to get more info on Henry's brother Charles.
