William Hughes - Sellatyn
« on: Saturday 22 December 07 01:17 GMT (UK) »

Hi,

having received a wonderful response to my request for information about Ann Hughes of Oswestry, I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to look up a possible marriage between a William Hughes and his wife Sarah?

If they are the same couple that I found in 1841 and  1851 census then William was a castrator born in Sellatyn and Sarah was born in Oswestry town. The marriage could possibly have been in either.

Baptisms of children would be amazing.

Many, many thanks

A very poor microfiche image but it looks like December 1st 1809 to me . Witnesses look like Richard Roberts and Mary Lewis.

PS - I was also thinking that although your ancestor, Ann Hughes,  might have been baptized Selattyn, she could still have been born Oswestry  Smiley

Jean said William was a castrator! I think a sow cutter or gelder also did spaying. There's some stories if you google it but perhaps not before dinner.
