HARRY/HARRIS = Rebecca/Rebekah CLEEVE at St Kew
« on: Saturday 22 December 07 23:35 GMT (UK) »

I am hoping someone might be in a position to check St Kew parish records and help me resolve a conundrum which arise just when I thought we had made a break through.

I am researching Harry at St Kew.
There is a marriage by Banns at St Teath 15 Apr 1723 of John Harry/Harris/Harey to Rebecca/Rebekah Cleeve, both of St Kew.
I am hoping that the records may have been transcribed and you can confirm that the name is Harry.
The IGI lists Harris children:
Joseph 1724
Edith 1726
Elizabeth 1729
Jennifer 1731

Then there is John Harey bpt 22.9.1735 St Kew who I think belongs to this family. If I am correct, his name is Harry,he married Grace Orchard and they had a son Charles Harry bpt Jan 1761.

This will help me resolve a long standing brick wall so I will be extremely pleased if someone can help.

Hi  Smiley

I have just checked the Phillimore register for the marriage and it definitely says:

John Harris and Rebecca Cleave, both of St Kew  15 April 1723

Unfortunately the only records I can find would be at the Cornwall Record Office, so it may be worth contacting them to see if they could help at all.  Or, you could try contacting the online parish clerk for St Kew.  The only transcriptions in my local centre are marriages and burials from 1813 to 1837 I'm afraid, but if you would like me to look at anything from these transcriptions just let me know.    Wink

Thank you Cornish Maid. Thanks for checking your records.
I had always dismissed this family as it was Harris rather than Harry.
However it is a bpt.22 Sep 1735 St Kew under John Harey and parents John Harry and Rebecca which makes me think the name may have been mistranscribed.

I am trying to connect my Harry family to Charles Harry bpt Jan 1761,s/o John Harry and Grace Orchard.I think this John Harry was a son of John Harry/Harris and Rebecca Cleeve.

Your help appreciated.

Still trying to resolve who are parents of John Harey bpt 22 Sep 1735 as appears to fit my Harry tree.
