I'm not sure where to put this post. Has anyone had any success with people born in France.
Here is what I know about LILY GROVES CLAY

Parents James Wain CLAY / Mary GROVES m. q/e September 1858 Leeds 9b 407 (FreeBMD) & 1858 St Peter Leeds CE46/55/199 (YorkshireBMD)
Mary died q/e June 1866 Age 28 Kirkstall 9b 197 & 1866 Kirkstall KIRK/25/362
James was a groom/coachman and was probably in France due to his employment when Lily was born and also at the time of the 1861 Census.

Is is possible to find births in France and if so, how?

Unless you have the place of birth in France it will be viirtually impossible.

Records over 100 years would be kept in Departmental Archives but you would need to know the Dept. There are very few online sources.
Records less than 100 years are still kept in the "mairie" of the place concerned.

Sorry to be negative but without place of birth there is little hope
