Emma OXX
« on: Tuesday 25 December 07 01:46 GMT (UK) »

Hi
Could someone please do a lookup for Emma Oxx?, I recieved a birth certificate for her son Edward Manser born 13 November 1841 in Stradbroke Suffolk, I am more confused than ever now with my ancestors, as family bible has his mother's name as Harriott, and family stories mention his father was a officer in the army escorting female prisoners to Australia, yet on the birth certificate it has his occ as a Grocer and Draper, his name  was Edward Manser also born 11 Jan 1818 in Stradbroke Suffolk. Because the copy of Birth certificate is not very good, Emma 's surname maybe Cox or Ox. Thankyou
Kind regards
Barbara Huh

Hi Wozzle,
Thankyou so much for that info,it looks like I am going to research a different family of Manser's than all our family thought was theirs, is there anyway, I can find out who Edward born 1818's father was, we have William Manser b in Sussex m Sally unknown  in Sussex, I have my doubts now, our  family tree has been done, but I had a feeling something was wrong, it seems I was right.
Very Confused!

Have a Wonderful Christmas and New Year

Kind regards

i have had a look for edwards birth/christening on the IGI but nothing came up
you could try getting in touch with the suffolk family history society i don't know if you can search online with them.
when was william born ,would he appear on the censuses we might be able to find out his wifes maiden name if you could supply some dates. i.e birth, death, marriage.

Hi Babs

According to the Suffolk Marriage Index, Edward's home parish was Framlingham and Emma's was Woodbridge.

Edward MANSER of Framlingham to Emma OXX of Woodbridge Married at Bredfield on 24 May 1836 - both single

Lookups for Framlingham and Woodbridge St Mary are available from the Suffolk Surnames List.  This might be a good starting point to look for their baptisms. There is however another parish at Woodbridge - St John

Hi Rick,
I just did a lookup on that suffolk surname site and I noticed that the parish lookup for  baptisms for framingham are only up to 1812 and woodbridge is not listed Huh

Hi Barbara

You are quite right about the Framlingham offer (sorry about that), though I do know that one of our regular Suffolk RootsChatters does have the PRs for Framlingham. (I had better not name her in case she tells me off!) But perhaps she will see this and look for you. Smiley

However, Woodbridge St Mary PR lookups are available at The Suffolk Surnames List but only for marriages unfortunately. Sad

At least one of our lovely Suffolk RootsChatters goes to the SRO regularly and does lookups for us, so perhaps she will be able to help with this.

Happy New Year

OK I'm here now!  Would I ever get cross with you Rick !

Happy New Year everyone

How can I help with Fram PRs?
What would you like to have checked?

I have a great many Framlingham references at home and will try to help if I can  Cheesy

Unfortunately we did lose our main Look Up Exchange volunteer for Woodbridge St Mary, but Lorilee has just joined the Suffolk Look Up Exchange at the Suffolk Surnames List and can offer looks ups for marriages in that parish 1545-1837
