Hi
I have read that there is a seat situated at the Church, on the headland, at Whitby, which overlooks the ancient abbey (sorry, don't know the name of the Church, or whether the seat is in the grounds, or the Church itself). This seat was made from part of the shipwreck of the 'Royal Charter', which broke up in a force 12 gale, in October 1859, with the loss of over 400 lives.
What I don't understand is the connection to Whitby, as the ship was wrecked off the coast of Moelfre, Anglesey. Was wondering if anyone knows of the seat and the reason why it should be at Whitby?

Well hello again Annie! I'm finding you everywhere
Thanks for the link; one that I haven't seen before.
Yes, I am interested in this wreck, as on board were two brothers, who were gg.grand uncles of mine. I have already put a post on the Anglesey board, about the wreck, not the seat (sorry, not sure how to put the link on here though!).
I am just curious and interested as to the Whitby connection.

Hello
Thank you for the welcome.
No interest in the chair, just me being curious and being lucky enough to get a good hit on google.
