Sorry I don't have credits for a marriage look-up, but this could be your Alexander with his parents in 1881 census.

Hi David, like you I can't find Alexander's marriage to Sarah anywhere in the U.K. or the children's births.
I don't know if you are aware that Alexander was one of 11 children born to GEORGE HOWAT and ISABELLA GRANT who married 13th Mar 1853 Inverkeithny Banff. The marriage is also reg. Boyndie on the same date. George's parents look to be GEORGE HOWAT and JEAN MUNROE.
Sorry forgot ch 26th May 1822 Inverkeithny.
I've noted down the 11 children if you need them.

no children of the first marriage with george on 1891 or 1901
1891 census

no sign of him on 1901

the info. i found on ancestry
for alexa could well be mistranscribed(is that a word)
unless anyone can find a better match i think that alexa
is alexander
i rest my case
