Murray/Reid
« on: Friday 28 December 07 15:11 GMT (UK) »

I’m looking for any information on the following family:
George Murray He married Margaret Reid [formally married to James MacDonald]. Child of George Murray and Margaret is: Georgina Murray, b. 26 Oct 1871, Turiff Aberdeen (illegitimate); d. 23 Feb 1941, Partick Glasgow. Georgina Murray she married John Heron 17 Jul 1895 in 93 Commercial St Clement Dundee, son of Michael Heron and Marjory High?  He was born Abt. 1870, and died 13 Mar 1942 in 133 Balornock rd Glasgow age 70.

Kind regards

Hi There,

I had a look at the
1901 Census
1035 Dumbarton Rd, Partick, Govan.
John Heron, 30yrs, House Painter, Broty Ferry Forfarshire.
Georgina Heron, 29yrs, Turrif, Ab
Thomas B Heron, 1mth, Partick.

I then looked for a birth for John Heron...no luck.. or marriage of his parents...no luck either.

so went and looked at the

1881 census..
Brown St, Monifieth,
Duncan Digney 36  Cabinet maker, Glasgow
Marjory Digney 34 Monifieth
James Digney 3 son Monifieth
John Heron 11    son, Monifieth
Barbara Heron 9  dau, monifieth
Elizabeth Heron 7  dau, monifieth

I looked for a marriage on Scotlandspeople  between Duncan Digney and Marjory Heron...and there was 1877 Monifieth Angus.

So seeing that this info was all legitimate..I thought that I would look for a birth on familysearch of a
John .....with a mother Marjory High, ...
Region.....British Isles
Country ...Scotland
County...Angus
(that is all you put into familysearch IGI)
Up popped John Hearn born 9 / 5/ 1870 Monifieth. ...
(after clicking on the name..JOHN)
his father was Micheal Hearn and mother ...Marjory High.
you can either click on the batch number C113103 and enter the mothers name only....( just in case the fathers name is something else) which it turns out to be Hearn each time....
up come the other 2 children...
Barbara Whitton Hearn 7/5/1872
Elizabeth High Hearn 20/9/1874...

OR
go back to the search box in IGI..
and put in Micheal Hearn and mother Marjory High......only into the parents box
and British isles in the region box...
and then you would get any other children born elsewhere..
But there aren't anymore children.

Micheal Hearn married Marjory High  14 / 1 / 1869 Monifieth.

I will let you digest that ...
before you want more..
Jo Smiley

Modified..
Also ev has posted the same on the Angus board....
anyone else helping please check both boards for updates.. Wink

so Michael might have been a sailor?

I’m going to Park Circus on 13 Feb with a friend who has been before so I’ll look for them all (death/ marriage certificate etc) and hope I strike lucky and what ever else I can find on the various families.  Sounds as if Michael would have been in that profession?

Thanks again
