Looking for researchers who may know of Charles Henry Hart who married Barbara Ellen Morren/Moran 30/9/1857 at Howick
Possibly he was in Waikato 2nd militia 1863 and discharged later that year with disability. Was listed as a carpenter
Barbara married Clement Augustus Cornes 1868, children born from 1864
Possible death for Charles at Thames 1900. Before I launch into getting his death cert, wondered if anyone is connected with this family. Charles ?remarried to an Elizabeth who died 1909
Trying to figure out when Charles and Barbara separated/??divorced. Her death cert does state she had a previous marriage.

Hello Althea,
Barbara E is certainly listed twice in the NZ Marriage Index: 1. Charles H Hart to Barbara E Moran, 1857, Folio 0121 2. Clement A Cornes to Barbara E Morrin 1868, Folio 0397
It seems the Barbara and Clement and more of their family are buried at Te Aroha Cemetery.
Are you sure that Charles Hart did not die before say 1868. If he had a disability, perhaps he was hidden away somewhere, Barbara then found Clement and was free to marry him when Charles died. Or have I been reading too many novels?
Jean

No I'm all for the novel's idea. Yes thinking he must have died prior to 1868 marriage, they had children from 1864, and looks like they couldn't marry till 1868. Barbara put spinster for that marriage, would that have been normal if husband had died?? rather than saying widow??
