Hi All,

As you can see I'm very new to this web site.

I was trying to do a little research can anyone tell me any more information on:

William Lindsay (merchant), Miltonbank, West Ferry (1880)

- I think he may have been a jute baron but I am not sure.

is the 1880 reference a street directory ?

the only thing i can see on the 1881 census-
william lindsay age 31 grocer and wine merchant born broughty ferry angus
residing church st broughty ferry
wife bertha age 27 born obetwalga , sevelslund(africa ?)
children
david age 3
annie age 2
bertha age 1 all born broughty ferry

unless he was born in 1880
can you confirm ?

ps looking at 1901 census i think bertha was born in switzerland  Grin
