Baptism Rebecca Wilmot abt 1770

Hi,

Has anyone come across a baptism for a Rebecca Wilmot in about 1770?   She married in Buckingham in 1788, but this was the only Wilmot marriage that I could find.  I cannot find her birth in Akeley or Maids Moreton.

Any help would be appreciated. Smiley

  Hi Peony....

  Sorry I did not answer your question. Member Submitted on IGI  often means a guestimate has been made on the date. Sometimes the information is 100% correct sometimes wrong time & place.

  However we are lucky with this one,

Rebecca Wilmot of this parish
James Smith of this parish    married by banns
    23 Oct 1788     both signed their names no crosses.

  I looked  through the baptisms from1780 backwards incase there was a late baptism but could not see any for Wilmot in Buckingham at that time.
You have siad that you have Maids Moreton & Akeley and drew a blank there. Buckingham draws people from the villages across the boarder in Northants as well which is a blank on the IGI  with very little transcribed.

  We could be looking around Chackmore/ Dadford/Stowe
                     or the other side to Gawcott.

  It could be a wide area.

  Any other clues.....where do James & Rebecca live after they marry or any names of children.

   I have Wilmots but much further north in Northamptonshire in my family.

     Let me know and I will see what I can do.
