My Grandfather George Burns. Seaforth Highlanders!
|
This is apparently my GGG grandmother. I have been told of her supposed age which I find very hard to believe and would very much like an opinion from the experts on RC. Thanx.

Hi Linda
Why do you find it hard to believe? What have you been told? She looks about 60 to me (though I am no expert!!) I think she looks a lovely old lady
You might have more luck if you post it on the Photo Restoration board you would probably get some lovely restores too!
Best wishes, Judy

Well, Judy, I am 62 and I think the old lady is about 90 to 100!
I suspect that the dear old lady has no teeth and no hair either, but I may be wrong. Her fingers are very long and thin too.
It's an interesting photo though, especially the dress and "bonnet".

Oooo, I never thought of that, mostly because I have never posted a photo before. Well I was told by a cousin that the photo was taken when she was aged 37! Yep, thats a 3 and a 7.
Now she probably had a very hard life (and no teeth) but I have to say I have problems with her being 37 and thats why I thought I would get a second opinion. She was born in 1806 if that gives any clues.
Linda.

That's true Judy, but in those days women had a hard life They also seemed to age so much quicker in those days - no anti-wrinkle cream
But I can't believe 37!!!! BUT - is she has lost her teeth - maybe early 40s!! Wait for the experts to come in!!!

I think it would take more than a pot of anti wrinkle cream to make her 37 Judy!!
I do take your point though, it was a very diferent life and she had about 8 kids which probably didnt help.
Looks like she died at about 67 years old which is interesting cos to me she looks about 80 in the photo but she was obviously much younger.
Linda.

37? Certainly doesn't look it, but if you cover her mouth with your finger, the rest of her face, body and hands just could be...............................?

I was obviously way out! for which I apologise.
What you need to do is post the pic on the restoration board as oldtimer suggested and get someone to put some hair around her face. I think then she will look more like 37. She has a nice figure though, doesn't she?

Yes, she has a very trim waist. I will try posting her on the restoration board then and see what the RC Trinny and Susannahs can do with her.

Wow, I am stunned by your knowledge old rowley.
So it looks like this was taken nearer the end of her life which rather fits with what I have always suspected.
Many thanx, Linda.

Well I think she looks at least that Lydart but then I know how difficult it is to judge peoples ages even today so I thought it was worth getting a second opinion.
