Hi All,
I have been told that there is a gravestone just inside the churchyard gate at Temple Guiting for some of my ancestors - the Dowdeswells.
If anyone happens to be nearby with their camera I would love a photo please
Maggie

Hi Tricia,
Thank you for taking the trouble to find these photos - they certainly give a feel for the place
As you suggested, the gravestones are too small to read - and are at odd angles but thank you anyway

Thanks Tricia - I read about the Knights Templar connection to Temple Guiting during the course of my research into this family, very interesting

Hello Maggie, I am new to rootschat, and have been reading through different post threads. I too have Temple Guiting Dowdeswell connections, and believe we have a connection. I trace descent from Jonathan Dowdeswell (b.1656), a son of Anthony Dowdeswell. If my research is correct, your ancestor is another of Anthony's sons, John (b.1647). Regards, Darren

Hi Darren,
Welcome to Rootschat.
I have been researching the Dowdeswells for quite a while now.
I am descended from John Dowdeswell c1647 as you have identified - I have managed to get back to John Dowdeswell who I think died c1585. At the moment I am transcribing wills for Anthony Dowdeswell's sons, your Jonathan's included who I think moved to Wimbledon.
I am happy to share information with you if you would like to do that.
Maggie

Hi Darren,
I have transcribed most of those you mention and am working on Thomas Dowdeswell now - brother of Anthony and Jonathan. I'm finding it hard going because there are 15 pages of it!!
It would be good to swap transcriptions though, because I'm never sure that I have it all correct, if you think that would be alright. I would also be happy to swap trees too.
I will send you a PM with my email address.
Maggie
