Hitting the proverbial brickwall!!!!
« on: Monday 31 December 07 17:58 GMT (UK) »

I am researching the name of Roberts in Gloucestershire, particulary around the Thornbury/Stone/Berkeley area of Gloucester.  I have researched the Roberts family back to a John Roberts, but have come across two & I dont know which one is the correct one.
John Roberts no 1, baptised Berkeley 20 Aug 1665. son of John Roberts & Margery Machine
John Roberts no 2, baptised Berkeley 1 Jan 1678/9. Son of John Roberts & Sarah Pegler.
My last branch on the tree was John Roberts (of Halmore Berkeley) married 14 April 1707 Berkeley to Anne Winbery, dont have either of their dates of birth, although I do have Anne Winbery's burial date 30 Nov 1730 in Berkeley.  I have searched on line the births, marriages, deaths in & around Berkeley, & Roberts seem to be quite a popular surname.
I would welcom any suggestions as to how I find the right John Roberts, & anyone searching the Roberts families in Gloucestershire & in Monmouth.

Hi there, on IGI the only Ann Winbery bapt. i could find in Gloucs was:~

ANNE WINBURY - Christening: 18 FEB 1672 Tortworth, Gloucester, England
d/o Richard & Anne Winbury

batch C057781

this would tie in with her marriage and subsequent death, there were tweo other Winbury children in the same batch but they were children of Christopher

hope this helps
