I wonder if there is anyone out there that may be able to help me. I have been searching for hours to try and find Samuel Terrey born 1827 in Newington on the 1841 census without any success. (I have him for all the other census up until his death in 1903)
I wonder if there was anyone that would be able to look up on the Newington births for him in 1827 so that I may be able to find his parentage.
One of the main problems I've had with the name is that it often has the 'e' missing or in some cases it has been mis-transcribed as Perry.
Thank you so much .... I know it seems to be a common name (grrr)
I did look at that one too, but like you think its another Samuel.
No, I don't have the marriage certificate, but I do have the reference so I think this may well be the next step. He has put each time on the census that he was born in Newington and given the same date of birth, and yet I can find it nowhere.
This happens so often, especially with the census - frustrating isn't it.
How about this chap...not in Surrey but in Middlesex in Tower Hamlets which I think borders Peckham and Newington.

Another possibility for sure. Gawd, these illusive ancestors - bet they never knew a hundred and fifty years later their 5 x Great Granddaughter, and Rootschatters would be searching for them !
I think I will have to order the marriage certtificate to get the fathers name to double check.
