My new year's resolution is to finally knock down a brick wall I have been banging my head against for the last few years and I'm hoping someone may be able to help.
I am looking for the marriage between William Darry (or could be spelt a number of other ways) and Helen/Nelly Cockburn.
I have successfully located the children all born in Berwick between 1799 and 1812 on the IGI but can't go any further back until I have found the marriage.
There are several possible baptisms for Helen/Nelly in Duns but I cant be sure which one is correct but nothing for William.
I can only assume they married in Berwick. I can't find anything on Scotland's people either.
William Darry late gardener in Manderson d. 27.2.1817 55 yrs. dau Elizabeth d.in childhood. on back. George Darry, gardener d. 1.4.1787 60 yrs. Wife Helen Creswel d. 5.7.1803 90 yrs.

Many thanks to you both for your replies - both of which look very promising.
According to William's daughter's marriage certificate he was a Gardener so this looks good. William and Nelly also named one of their daughters Helen - possibly after George's wife.
Also William and his wife did have a daughter named Elizabeth
Do you think that Helen Carssen and Helen Creswell could be one in the same - perhaps an error in transcription?
Anyway - this has really given me something to go on
