Death - Margaret Ferguson/Morrison approx 1906
« on: Wednesday 02 January 08 20:40 GMT (UK) »

Hello, I am seeking help in finding the date of death of Margaret Ferguson nee Morrison. Born 1835, married David Ferguson 23.12.1862 and had 8 children, the last one being Margaret who married Andrew McLaren 31.8.1906. Margaret senior being a witness. I guess she died from 1906 onwards.

My great grandfather James was her fifth child born in 1871.

no matter where I look I cannot find a date of death. She was living at Oliver Row, Bonnybridge in 1891 and 1901 census.

I am a first time user of this site which has been recommended so hopefully someone can  point me the right way. I have one or two other brickwalls to get by if I can get a starter on this one. Many thanks.

Incidentally I have fairly extensive info on Fergusons in Stirlingshire back to 1790's with marriages involving other names including Reid, Morrison,Johnston,Wright,Niven and McLaren in villages/towns of Dunblane, Larbert, Airth,Denny, and Bonnybridge
and would happily share.

Hi Martyn,

Welcome to the wonderful world of Rootschat!!   Smiley

I had a couple of credits left for Scotland's people and found the death of Margaret Ferguson (nee Morrison) for you.

She died on 13th November 1908 aged 73 years at Cornhill Place, Bonnybridge. (Her husband had pre-deceased her as she's listed as widow of David Ferguson, Ironmoulder. Her cause of death was recorded as Diabetes/Cardiac Failure and the informant was her son-in-law Andrew McLaren. Her parents are given as Andrew Morrison, Labourer, deceased and Isabella? Morrison (nee Wright) also deceased (I think, certificate is a wee bit hard to read)

If you want to find out where she's buried, contact Falkirk Council (link to their site):

I would imagine it would be either Denny or Camelon Cemetery. Bonnybridge is roughly between the two places.  If it was Denny, then I don't think there's a stone as I've transcribed and photographed all the existing/legible stones there and can't find one for either her or her husband. If however, she turns out to be buried in Camelon, once you contact the Cemeteries Office and get a Section and a Lair/Plot Number, post another message containing the information and I'll go along and see if I can find a stone and take a couple of photos for you - unless you're local and can visit yourself?

If you contact me by Private Message (click on my user name then follow the instructions) and give me your personal e-mail address, I'll send you a copy of Margaret's Death Certificate.

Martyn, I am guessing that you already know about Ruth and her website? If not get in touch with her, she is a descendant of the same family as Margaret - Andrew Morrison and Isabella Wright.

You and I are also connected further back with the McIndoes of Killearn. I have also Morrisons and Wrights in Falkirk although Ruth and I have never been able to make a connection to any of yours.

regards,

Lindsay

(Hi Anne, always good info from you!!)
