James Kavanagh and wife Margaret
« on: Thursday 03 January 08 21:49 UTC (UK) »

Hi,
Anyone have any info on the above.  They were both from somewhere in Wicklow.  One known son Peter born 1856/57.
They are possibly from Baltinglass but I can't make the proper connections.  Marriage cert for Peter (1873) in Finglas, Dublin  states the parents names and the 1911 census shows he was born in Wicklow.
I have reached a bit of a stone wall at this stage and would appreciate any assistance.

Rory

Is it a church record that lists the parents' names? (civil marriage certificates only list fathers' name).

I know for sure that the fathers name was on the church record as this is in my notes, I am not exactly sure where I found the mention of Margaret, you now have me wondering where I came across this. I have checked my notes but have no record of the source of info on Margaret.

Thanks for the question, as it will make me look further into where I got the info. It may have been entered in the church record but I'm not sure now.

Hi RoryT and aghadowey,
I know that once you have traced a marriage in the catholic
church you can then ask for any other information on the register.
I have a first name for the grooms mother and addresses for the
witnesses plus of course the address for bride and groom.
I think it might be the same with any church wedding.
