I couldn't see any Henry JONES watchmaker in 1881, but after all he might have died by then!

I have found them in 1851.... transcription had Mary married to Mary (grrrr.....)

The writing is terrible but Henry is a farm labourer

I can't find the parents in England or Wales in 1871!

I think Margaret is a servant, but that's difficult to prove, especially if there are two of them!

Still looking but losing hope fast ...

They probably went on holiday.... the difficult ones always do..... !!!  Smiley I wonder if they had both alread died..... but where did this watchmaker come from - seems v odd......

Well, the usual answer is

* she thought up something more glamorous than "labourer" to impress her in-laws, or

* her dad died when she was young and

* she couldn't remember what she did, so either see first point or

* her stepdad or brother were watchmakers, so she thought her dad was too!

I did think point one. Father in law was a nursery man though so not so glamourous. I might order death cert to see if I can track down some sort of birth record (I just hope there is only one Margaret Salisbury Jones in Chester!)

I found the death of Margaret Salisbury senior in 1869. So we know why she isn't around in 1871!

Thanks for searching for me..... just glad I don't have Smiths in England too!!
