Hi there,
I'm looking for links and descendants of James (b 1812) and Mary (b 1816) Abbott of Beaminster, Dorset.
They had 6 children: Jane (b 1835); Sophia (b 1836); James D (b 1838); William (b 1841), Alfred (b 16 Oct 1842), and Georgina (b 1845).
My 3-grand-father was Alfred, he married Caroline Felton in 1869, they moved to Lullington, Somerset between 1881 and 1885. I also know that some members of the family from Alfred & Caroline's children onwards, anyway!, were VERY tall indeed, we've got pictures - can't say for earlier generations (so I'm not sure whether it came from the Feltons or the Abbots)...
I'd like to hear from anyone else researching the same branch of the Abbott family!

ps - 24 Mar 2009, this family now goes back to Richard Abbott b abt 1787, Halstock, Dorset married to Elizabeth Minchington b 1789, Yetminster, Dorset.

I wish you luck.
I have also been looking for Abbotts in Somerset James Abbott b c 1808 in Hatch Beauchamps Somerset according to census information. The information is constant on the censuses, but he sometimes used Thomas Abbott. He married Ann Barnard in 1841.
I have no other information about him and have not even tracked in parish records.
His childrens names were Ann, Emma, Ellen, Eliza, Jeanette, William James, Ellen, Mary, Henry, Alfred and George, born between 1842 and 1860.
There is probably no connection but thereis a similarity in the naming paterns.

I've managed to find links to 'my' Abbott family in Dorset - they were an enormous family by the looks of things - 11+ children per couple, but haven't managed to find links to my particular group who moved to Beckington...
Well, it will all come in time, I suppose! Anyway, I'll look out for anything that could link your guys to mine!
