Thanks Sue
Think I was having a senior moment putting those burials in for checking - I've been spending so much time pre 1837 recently, forgot I could get death certs for these two Grin Embarrassed

Hello Jan,

The IGI has both of these baptisms , parents John Farr & Hannah, but I suspect you know that. Being post 1812 this requires a visit to the Beds Archive or Luton library to check the register entry. What other info might there be ?, birth date possibly, different abode & father's occupation.

Hi John

I  did have the parents thanks - their absence from the post is another example of my brain deadness yesterday Roll Eyes
Yes I was hoping maybe for different abode, birthdate, occupation - you never know. This family whizzed backwards and forwards across the Beds/Herts border, baptising some children years after their birth, others almost instantly and a couple apparently not at all! My gg grandfather Amos is of course one I have not found.

Hi Sue
Amos was born c1830 and gives a different place of birth on every census - Flamstead, Pepperstock, Caddington, New Mill End , Luton. In 1841 he is with parents John and Hannah in East Hyde and in Luton on all other censuses. He married first Betsy Godfrey in 1850 and second Mary Ann Seymour in 1888. He died in Luton 1903.

Sorry Jan you have got your work to do with Amos.
I had a look as well on different sites but not only birthplace but dob differs as well.
There are a few family trees for him on ancestry, dont know if it would be worth getting in touch with them.
Good luck with it and sorry i couldnt help you

Jan / Sue

There are 6 contacts on Genes reUnited that have Amos Farr b 1828-1830, Pepperstock or Luton or Bedford; none of those 6's names suggest it either of you two. Do you use that website ?

Hi Sue/John
I have contacted the people on Ancestry, only one direct line from Amos and she is also stuck! As for genesreunited - just renewed membership so am off Amos hunting there now.
Thank you both for your interest.

Have just had a reply from someone on Genesreunited who is descended from Amos and even better also from his son Frederick - very exciting.

Hi Janan,

I have just seen your interest in the surname GODFREY in Hertfordshire.

I am currently researching the names on the Flamstead War Memorial and there are two GODFREY's named on there.

Would your GODFREY links stretch to Flamstead ?

Hi Gooders

My Godfrey connection is Betsy who married the elusive Amos. I have traced the family back to Hexton, Lilley, Offley, Hitchin and probably Ipollitts.  My branch ended up in Luton but I haven't gone forward with any of Betsy's siblings so don't know if any moved to Flamstead. Give me their names and I will see if they connect.

Regards
