HOLMES of Kirk Ireton?
« on: Friday 04 January 08 14:36 GMT (UK) »

Is anyone looking for the HOLMES family from the Kirk Ireton area?

I think I am - at least those before the censuses, i.e. before 1841.

Let me know...

So far my HOLMESes seem to have stayed pretty close to Kirk Ireton - save when they left the area altogether, as in the case of my ggg-grandfather, Peter HOLMES (1805-1869). He went away about 1828-33.

His parents were William HOLMES (b.1769) and Sarah STORER. William was the son of Samuel HOLMES (b.1736) and Grace SCATTERGOOD, and Samuel was the son of another William (b.c.1715) - all of Kirk Ireton.
