Warminster. BALL/ LACEY

I am researching my Ball and Lacey families from Warminister . my gggreat grandparents were Clara Ball and William Lacey > she was born in warminster and met him in the  Beau Inn  in Bath . they went to Paddington London in about 1850. Is there anyone out there who can share info with me on this family . thanks Jan

don't know if this is the sort of info you are after but in the 1841 census for warminster there are two clara balls one born 1825  HO107/1187/book11/48/14.
one born 1834. HO107/1187/book12/5/3.
if you want the full entry for either or both then i will post them here.
if you want me to look for later census entries i will have a look for you.

the clara born 1834 has a drew ball age 30 and jane age 30 living with her.
could drew be andrew.
the other one is living away from parents.
anyway here is the full entries for both
1841 HO107/1187/book12/5/3. all born in county.
drew ball age 30. occ. labourer.
jane ball age 30.
elizabeth ball age 9.
clara ball age 7
living at coldharbour,warminster,wiltshire.

1841. HO107/1187/book11/48/14.
george price age 36. occ. cooper.
ann price age 30.
ubsdell price age 10.
mary ann price age 7.
martha price age 5.
clara ball age 16. occ. female servant.
living at portway,warminster,wiltshire.
all except ann born in county.

you say they went to paddington london in 1850
but here is the 1851 census in somerset. they appear together on it.
1851 HO107/1942/169/1.
william edward davis age 28. b. bath. occ. innkeeper. head.
jane davis age 26,. b. middlesex. wife.
edward davis age 7mnths. b. bath. son.
james hence age 19. b. tiverton.
wrsnath? powell age 33. b. bath.
william lacey age 22. b. combe,somerset.
jane tovey age 20. b. norton,london,middx.
clara bale(ball) age 18. b. warminster.
living at wells road the beau inn,lyncombe and wdcome,somerset.
reg.dist. bath.

hi yes that must be them . by her age she is the one with Drew ball. i hadnt seen that census so no wi will have her parents and siblings . thanks for that . i know they do end up in Paddington sometime . i will look into ti . thanks again . jan

possibly william lacey
1841 HO107/931/book17/8/8.
william lacey age 13. born in county.
he seems to be staying at papersmill farm with a george- mary carver and family
on the same page of the census there is a charles-anna lacey both aged 40.
possibly his parents maybe he was stopping overnight with the carver family.

I have found some baptisms which may be useful.

A Clara Ball, daughter of Benjamin and Diana Ball was baptised 7 Aug 1825, Longbridge Deverill.
Clara Ball, daughter of George & Martah Ball, baptised 12 Dec 1830 in Bishopstrow.

Clara Ball, daughter of Drew & Jane Ball baptised 11 Aug 1833 in Warminster.

Drew & Jane's other children:
Thomas 14 Oct 1829
Elizabeth 26 Oct 1831
Matilda 28 Oct 1840
Mary Ann 15 Mar 1846

Drew may well have been Andrew:  Andrew Ball son of Drew & Martha Ball, baptised 15 Dec 1805 Warminster.


I haven't found a marriage for Drew and Jane.  Sad
