is JOSLYN a male name? any help or advice I would be grateful john
Joscelin; Joscelin meaning: Variant of Jocelyn: 'One of the Goths'. Introduced into Britain as a masculine name during the Norman Conquest, Jocelyn was adopted as a feminine first name in the early 20th century.
I don't think the rules were as relaxed then as they are now, I doubt you'd get the church marrying two females. So that point alone would suggest a male name.
