residence 1871 in middlesex
Spouse Joslyn Limming b. abt 1839 

is JOSLYN a male name?
any help or advice I would be grateful

I don't think the rules were as relaxed then as they are now, I doubt you'd get the church marrying two females.  So that point alone would suggest a male name.
