Levin marriages etc., Help!!

Dear Rootschatters,
I had relatives that settled in Levin, NZ. We were lucky enough to have a local genealogist do a lot of research for us, but then we lost contact with him, as he didn't reply to our further enquiries. He gave us reference numbers for marriages etc., How do we go about obtaining the actual certificates from here in England? We also want a copy of wills. (He was going to get them, but as I previously stated he has disappeared). How would we get these? Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Nooshie,

BDM certificates can be ordered from the Department Of Internal Affairs. This website tells you how to go about it:
     
        www.bdm.govt.nz

As for wills, you can search the NZ Archives website to see if there is a probate and then request a copy from the office where it is held:

      http://archway.archives.govt.nz/

Or you can ask someone here to do a look-up for you and post the main details of the will.

Thanks for that .
Yes there are some wills that I would like to have researched. William Egginton 1894 record number 4524 agency AAOM and series 6029, also Henry Egginton same agency and series record number 12803. I am also looking for the will of Mary Ann Egginton of Levin dated 1921 and Emily Caroline Egginton 1950.All Wellington.
If anyone could look these up it would be great.

Look at the thread, Wellington archives lookup and you may be able to get someone to do the lookup,if not the charges are usually not too bad
