Elizabeth or Bessie Wales was my great great grandmother. She gave birth to my great grandfather John Wales about 1837 in Berwick on Tweed, she was not married to John`s father. When John married he stated on marriage certificate that his father was William Sanderson (shoemaker). John became known as John Sanderson later spelt as Saunderson. On the 1841 census Elizabeth Wales a 30 year old female servant was residing on the Parade in Berwick, John aged 4 was living in Castlegate, Berwick with 75 year old Margaret Sanderson who I can only assume at this point to be his grandmother. I cannot find any other trace of Bessie, until I think the 1861 census, living at Adelaide House, Finsbury, London as a 55 year old cook, Betsey Wales, born Berwick on Tweed. I am not even sure that she is the same person. I would really like to find out more about Bessie as I do not have her birth, death or any marriage, or other census info apart from above. Thanks in anticipation of any help that you can give.

The IGI shows :-
SANDERSON William born 26 May 1809 Tynemouth Northumberland christened 18 June 1809 Tynemouth Northumberland
Father = John SANDERSON Mother = Margaret ALLELEY
Elizabeth named her son John, wondered if this was for his grandfather on either side?
Cheers Karenlee
