Charles Stone, GG Grandfather, 1819 to 1916

Can anyone help me please. I have an old bible which belonged to my GG grandmother Sarah Rowland, born in Harlow, Essex; she married Charles Stone, but I don't have any info on his parents. So if anyone could see if ther is a baptism for him I would appreciate it.

Hi
You need a starting point to find his birth/baptism and the best way is to buy a copy of his marriage cert which will give his fathers name and occupation

Thank you Carol, I have sent off for his marriage cert. It looks like he may have been married before. In 1841 he was living with a Caroline Stone with the Folley family. I can't seem to find the marriage yet, but I'll keep looking.

Hi
Caroline may have been his sister or other relative but see these entries from freebmd. You will know from the marriage cert when it arrives whether he was a widower

Thank you for that info. I had thought she could have been a sister, but what made me wonder was that she didn't have an occupation; a wife probably wouldn't but a sister would have. Like you said I will find out when the marriage cert arrives. Unfortunately it's a long wait when you live in Australia.
