I am interested in tracing the May family which originated in Corsham and Atworth......
David May born 1818 Corsham, his son Jeremiah..1841 mother (Mary) but no surname yet...waiting for birth certificate.
Jeremiah I am led to believe had an older brother John and sister Ann...not sure what happend to them.
They were miners, and moved to London, where I found them in 1873 when Jeremiah married Caroline Lane.
David his father was remarried, with 3 more children by (1881)
I would like to find out when they moved and as yet have not been able to find out.....also interested to see if there are any surviving May's still living in that area.

Hi Lindy...I checked the 51 census for Corsham without success so have listed roughly who I found...
the only May's in Chorsham are ....John a 46 year old Haulier and his family..and Thomas a 46 year old Ag Labourer and his family he was b Atworth...Eleanor a 77 year old Widow b Atworth...William a 50 year old farmer and family (for interest he does have a son David and a sister Harriett 37.....Eliza a 36 year old widow and her children...Samuel; a 47 year old chairman and family...that is it
In Atworth all there is are...John 66 tiler and fam....Samuel a 61 year old wheelwright and wife...
No David or Jeremiah in either parish Let me know if any of these r of interest and I will give u the details but looks like theywere gone before 51 census...

Sorry I did not get back to you earlier, to say thank you, but I forgot I had asked the question of the group, and only got a notification today from Rootschat, ? that you had replied to it 
That is the family Kris,
Eleanor was Davids mother, and William, John and Samuel were the names of his brothers. The other brothers were Alfred and George.
He also had four sisters!
Wow thats great!
At least now I know that they had gone by 1851!
I would like the information you have found so I can fill in the blanks.
Now the problem really starts, where did they go after Jeremiah was born? before they turn up in London 30 years later. Oh well that will keep me busy for 2005.
